Benoit Saint-Denis is still set to compete at UFC 315 this Saturday after his original opponent, Joel Alvarez, withdrew due to a hand injury.

Saint Denis (13-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) will now take on returning lightweight Kyle Prepolec (18-8 MMA, 0-2 UFC), who is stepping in on short notice. The news was first reported by Aaron Bronsteter on Twitter.

Prepolec previously went 0-2 during a brief UFC stint in 2019, suffering decision losses at the hands of Austin Hubbard and Nordine Taleb before parting ways with the organization. The Canadian re-enters the Octagon this weekend with his career in the midst of an upswing. Since leaving the promotion, he’s put together a 4-1 run and is currently riding a three-fight knockout streak. The Windsor, Ontario native hopes to extend his momentum against one of the division’s more promising talents.

Saint-Denis, on the other hand, is aiming to get back on track after suffering back-to-back defeats. Prior to those setbacks, “God of War” was on an impressive five-fight win streak—finishing all of his opponents via knockout or submission. That run earned him a high-profile bout against former interim champ Dustin Poirier at UFC 299 last year, but after starting brightly he suffered a knockout loss in the second round.

He later faced Renato Moicano during the UFC’s return to France in September, where he suffered another stoppage defeat. UFC 315 will mark Saint-Denis’ first fight of 2025, and a crucial opportunity to return to the win column.
