All four bantamweight contenders succesfully made weight at the UFC host hotel in Newark, New Jersey today ahead of UFC 316, which is set to take place at Prudential Center this Saturday night.
Merab Dvalishvili came in one pound under the limit as he looks to defend his title against the man he dethroned in September of last year, Sean O'Malley. "Suga" weighed in right on the money at 135 pounds and the rematch is set for tomorrow's main event.
Both Julianna Peña and Kayla Harrison made weight for their co-main event matchup, with Harrison sucessfully hitting bantamweight for the third successive fight and also making the championship limit of 135 for the first time in her career.
Middleweights Kelvin Gastelum and Joe Pyfer both made 185 pounds even, while former Bellator champion Patchy Mix is on course to face Mario Bautista in his UFC debut after both fighters weighed in without any problems.
All in all, 25 of the 26 athletes made weight succesfully. Ariane da Silva, who is scheduled to face Wang Cong on the undercard, missed weight by a staggering 6 pounds, coming in at 132 pounds for her flyweight matchup.
