UFC on ABC 8 Bonus Winners
The UFC handed out two performance bonuses following Saturday’s event in Azerbaijan — but this time, the recipients each walked away with double the usual payout.
There were only two finishes out of 12 total bouts, with the rest going to the judges. One of the rare stoppages came courtesy of Nazim Sadykhov (11-1-1 MMA, 4-0-1 UFC), who energized the crowd by stopping Nikolas Motta (15-6 MMA, 3-3 UFC) in the second round. That marked the end of a streak of seven consecutive decision outcomes to start the night.
Motta nearly had a finish of his own in the opening round, unleashing a barrage of more than 70 punches in a frantic attempt to close the show. However, Sadykhov weathered the storm and mounted a comeback to secure the victory.
After the event, UFC CEO Dana White announced that both Sadykhov and Motta would receive $100,000 bonuses — double the standard $50,000 typically awarded. Despite there being another finish on the card, Myktybek Orolbai wasn’t eligible for a bonus due to a weight-related issue. Although he officially made weight thanks to a late switch to a 165-pound catchweight, the UFC treated his extra 10-pound cut during fight week as a disqualifier for bonus consideration.
