Daniel Cormier believes Jake Paul should stay as far away as possible from Francis Ngannou.
After his upcoming boxing exhibition bout against Gervonta Davis was canceled earlier this week, Paul and his team reportedly reached out to former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou (18-3 MMA, 12-2 UFC) about the possibility of the Cameroonian stepping in to replace “Tank.”
Ngannou laughed off the idea, calling it “disrespectful.”
Since parting ways with the UFC in 2022, “The Predator” has stepped into the boxing ring twice, against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Though he lost on both occasions, Cormier said he’s seen enough to know that Ngannou is far beyond Jake Paul’s level.
“I don't care what Anthony Joshua did to Francis Ngannou,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “Jake Paul gets in there with Francis, (then) Francis will knock his head off this planet. You don't want those Francis problems.
"I watched Francis put down Tyson Fury. Sure, Anthony Joshua beat him. But even if Jake got power, I don't think he has the power to be dealing with Francis. Because all it takes is for one to land, and he's gonna put you out.
"Play Stupid Games, You Get Stupid Prizes"
“If Jake Paul actually fights Francis Ngannou, I would do nothing but give him credit," Cormier continued. "But I can't imagine he would really do that. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. A stupid prize will be fighting Francis Ngannou. I don't care what money Jake Paul would make, he should not be fighting Francis Ngannou. Francis will put him out.
"Hey, Big Frank doesn't know how to play games. Big Frank doesn't know how to pull his punches. Big Frank's gonna put you down, man. Stay away from Francis Ngannou if you ain't a guy like Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury.”
