For the second week in a row, the UFC Apex in Las Vegas hosted a Fight Night event on Saturday. While all eyes are turning toward Madison Square Garden ahead of UFC 322 this weekend where two world titles will be on the line, there were several movers and shakers at UFC Vegas 111 in the latest updated UFC rankings.
Gabriel Bonfim
A fourth consecutive win, a Performance of the Night bonus, and a knockout finish over Randy Brown made for a solid night’s work for Gabriel Bonfim (19-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) in Saturday’s main event.
“Marretinha” has now won six of his seven fights inside the Octagon and has climbed four spots in the latest welterweight rankings to reach tenth place, overtaking Colby Covington—the man he called out during Saturday’s post-fight press conference.
Covington drops one spot to eleventh, and Bonfim can now look upward at the cluster of exciting contenders at 170 pounds, where some fascinating matchups await the Brazilian.
Joseph Morales
The Ultimate Fighter Season 33 winner Joseph Morales (14-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) earned his second consecutive submission victory since returning to the UFC when he choked out Matt Schnell in Saturday’s co-main event. The Team Alpha Male representative has now broken into the top fifteen of the flyweight rankings, replacing Rafael Estevam at the bottom of the list.
Jacqueline Cavalcanti
Jacqueline Cavalcanti (10-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) extended her unbeaten start to her UFC career on Saturday’s preliminary card, outpointing Mayra Bueno Silva (10-6-1 MMA, 5-6-1 UFC) over fifteen minutes.
Cavalcanti moves up one spot to tenth in the women’s bantamweight rankings, swapping places with Bueno Silva, who has now dropped four straight.
Denise Gomes
In the women’s strawweight division, Denise Gomes (12-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) scored a decision win over Tecia Pennington (15-8 MMA, 11-8 UFC), jumping two spots to No. 13 in the rankings, a direct swap with her opponent, who falls to No. 15.
