Some interesting matchups await Sean Brady if he follows through on his idea of moving to 155 pounds.

After his devastating loss to Michael Morales at UFC 322 earlier this month, welterweight contender Brady (18-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) floated the possibility of dropping to the lightweight division as he continues his career.

"I might try to go to 55,” Brady said on his podcast, The BradyBagz Show. “There's a lot of like good-ass matchups at 55 that are potentially there, but it also depends on what they want to give me at 170.”

Having racked up dominant wins over Kelvin Gastelum, Gilbert Burns, and Leon Edwards leading into his last appearance, many fans felt that Brady had done enough to earn a title shot, rather than being matched with another rising contender in Morales. However, with former lightweight champion Islam Makhachev moving up to 170 pounds, an immediate title shot against Jack Della Maddalena for the former 155-pound king was always likely, leaving Brady in need of an opponent.

Now, after suffering such a difficult defeat, the Philadelphia native is assessing his options, and one ranked contender has thrown his name into the mix if Brady decides to make the drop to 155 pounds.

“Sean if 155 is on your mind, it would be an honor to share the octagon with you,” Mateusz Gamrot tweeted.

Gamrot (25-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) currently sits seventh in the UFC lightweight rankings and was most recently in action at UFC Brazil in October, where he suffered a submission loss to Charles Oliveira after stepping in to replace the injured Rafael Fiziev on just three weeks’ notice.
