A Polish MMA superstar has made OKTAGON his new home!
One of the greatest Polish light heavyweights ever, Tomasz Narkun (21-6), has signed with the organisation and will make his debut against German giant, Alexander Poppeck (20-5, 1NC), in Szczecin - the first OKTAGON event in Poland. The mouth-watering contest is another brilliant addition to the loaded lineup inside Enea Arena for OKTAGON 86, which takes place on Saturday, April 11.
Narkun has been one of the most dominant fighters on the scene for the past decade where he has captivated fans with a thrilling style and unique personality to match. ‘The Giraffe’ won the KSW light heavyweight championship in October 2015 and defended it five times, all of which resulted in finishes before the end of the second round. During that period, he also defeated European MMA icon, Mamed Khalidov, twice and moved up to heavyweight to challenge Phil De Fries for that belt as well. After earning three victories in his last three bouts in a combined time of 136 seconds, Narkun is ready to prove that he has another title in his sights!
Poppeck is Germany’s number one light heavyweight and has never looked more devastating than he has over the past twelve months. The man known as ‘Ironside’ is currently riding a four-fight winning run where he has knocked out the likes of Jeremy Kimball and Pavol Langer in the very first round. Poppeck has a stoic demeanour and intimidating appearance which means he is the perfect candidate to head to Szczecin and try to take out a local hero, cementing his own place as a serious force in the division.
Elsewhere on the lineup, Mateusz Legierski is intent on defending his lightweight belt for the first time at home opposite oncoming wrecking ball, Gökhan Aksu. Polish combat sports icon, Michał Materla, will throw down with German warrior, Christian Jungwirth, under STAND and BANG rules while Piotr Wawrzyniak also collides with Mateusz Janur at middleweight.
