Let’s see who made the biggest moves in the latest updated official rankings in the wake of UFC 328 at Newark’s Prudential Center on Saturday night.
Strickland Return to P4P List
After regaining the middleweight title thanks to his win over Khamzat Chimaev in Saturday’s main event, Sean Strickland (31-7 MMA, 18-7 UFC) returns once again to the pound-for-pound rankings, re-entering the list at no. 7.
Chimaev (15-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) drops a massive seven places to no. 10 after suffering the first defeat of his career, while former light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev departs the list to make way for Strickland.
Joshua Van (17-2 MMA, 10-1 UFC) rises on place on the list to no. 9 after successfully defending his flyweight title in the co-main event against Tatsuro Taira (18-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC), who remains the no. 3-ranked contender at 125 pounds.
Heavyweights Hold Firm
Alexander Volkov (40-11 MMA, 14-5 UFC) holds his no. 2 ranking in the heavyweight division after picking up his sixth win in his last seven fights during Saturday’s main card.
The man he beat, Waldo Cortes Acosta (17-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC), also remains unmoved at no. 4.
Amosov on the Rise
Former Bellator champion Yaroslav Amosov (30-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) continued his blistering start to life in the UFC on Saturday’s preliminary card. The Ukrainian picked up his second submission win inside the Octagon over Joel Alvarez and moves up four places to pinch the no. 10 spot in the welterweight rankings.
Sean Brady (19-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) remains at no. 6 after his dominant win over Joaquin Buckley (21-8 MMA, 11-6 UFC).
