A huge battle for the lightweight title has been rebooked for OKTAGON’s historic debut in the German capital of Berlin.

Reigning champion, Mateusz Legierski (13-2), will look to defend his gold for the first time against dangerous finisher, Gökhan Aksu (14-6-1), at OKTAGON 90. The pair were originally scheduled to compete in Poland last month but an injury to Legierski cancelled the contest. However, he is now back to full strength and ready to see off Aksu’s challenge at the biggest MMA event that Berlin has ever staged on Saturday, June 20, inside Uber Arena.

After making history by winning the organisation’s first lightweight championship at OKTAGON Prime 3 in early 2020, Legierski established himself as one of the division’s top competitors with notable wins over Karol Ryšavý, Matouš Kohout and Akonne Wanliss. His career was then put on hold following a major back injury that ruled him out for more than a year and there were even concerns from doctors that he might never return to professional competition. Defying those expectations, the 29-year-old completed an inspiring comeback in November by outpointing Attila Korkmaz over five rounds to regain the title.

Since arriving in the organisation in December 2024, Aksu has made an immediate impact with a string of dominant performances. The Turkish fighter wasted little time in submitting Jan Malach in his first appearance and then followed it up with a stoppage win over Ognjen Dimić just three minutes into the contest. Most recently, he earned a title opportunity after knocking out Denis Frimpong following an intense rivalry. Now on a six-fight unbeaten run and having finished every opponent of his professional career, Aksu will aim to capture championship gold in front of a passionate crowd who will be roaring him on in Berlin.

Elsewhere on the card, Will Fleury puts his heavyweight belt on the line against Kasim Aras and rising European superstar, Alina Dalaslan, takes on Djulia Ariana. Furthermore, Denis Frimping collides with Niko Samsonidse and Attila Korkmaz throws down with Dawid Śmiełowski.
