A heavyweight earthquake is heading for Munich that will shake the city to its core.
Former two-time title challenger, Lazar Todev (14-7), squares off with PFL and Bellator alum, Simon Biyong (12-6), in a very important matchup for the division at OKTAGON 96. The contest will be a feature bout inside SAP Garden on Saturday, October 31, as part of a Halloween special and the victor could get a shot at the belt in their very near future.
Todev is one of the most underrated heavyweights in Europe and has only tasted defeat twice in the past eight years – both of which came in contests for the OKTAGON championship. The Bulgarian tank has won his last three fights against UFC veterans Luis Barbosa, Josh Parisian and Martin Buday, demonstrating how high level of a mixed martial artist he is. If he can get his hand raised in Munich, Todev will hope he is one step closer to getting a third crack at gold.
Biyong arrived in OKTAGON last year after competing for some of the biggest promotions in the world, securing wins over the likes of Luke Trainer. The 35-year-old was unsuccessful in his debut for the organisation opposite Kasim Aras but looked devastating in May when he knocked out Evgeny Orlov in the very first round. With nine of his twelve professional wins coming due to strikes, Biyong will be hunting for a massive win at OKTAGON 96 that would catapult his career to the next level.
Elsewhere on the card, Georgian phenom, Amiran Gogoladze, will compete against grappling specialist, Felix Klinkhammer, for the vacant welterweight title.
