Dana White has provided a positive update on Raoni Barcelos following the veteran fighter’s frightening knockout loss to Raul Rosas Jr. on Saturday night.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference following Tuesday night’s Dana White’s Contender Series event, White said Barcelos is recovering well after being transported to a trauma center following the bout.
“Thank God he's doing well. He's doing well. Yeah, he's up walking around, talking, and…yeah,” White said.
White also highlighted the medical precautions that were in place on fight night, noting that Barcelos received immediate medical attention after the knockout.
“It goes right in line with everything that I always talk about and what we do,” White said. “All the pre-fight medicals were triple checked, everything was good, there were six doctors here that night, three ambulances. He was taken straight to the trauma center, not to Valley, everything was done the right way and the outcome is good.”
Barcelos suffered the knockout loss to Rosas Jr. on Saturday, prompting immediate concern for his condition. White’s update provided reassurance that the Brazilian fighter was awake, walking and speaking following the incident.
When asked whether Barcelos could return to competition in the future, White made it clear that his immediate priority is the fighter’s health rather than his career.
“Not even thinking about that,” White said. “Who gives a shit as long as the kid is okay?”
For now, Barcelos’ recovery remains the primary concern, with White emphasizing that the positive outcome following the frightening knockout is what matters most.
