King Green has pointed the finger at referee Herb Dean after his knockout loss on Saturday night.
Green was flatlined in the opening round by Esteban Ribovics at UFC 332, with Dean stepping in to wave off the contest after Green hit the canvas for the third time in quick succession.
Despite taking heavy punishment, Green popped to his feet immediately and protested the stoppage, to no avail.
In a video posted to his social media shortly afterwards, green revealed that he had spoken with Dean before the fight and asked the referee to afford him a little extra leeway if the going got rough.
“Wow, oh wow…sheesh! Man Great fight, shit happens,” Green shrugged. “I told myself regardless or not I'm not gonna be mad at myself, but I'm a little mad. I told Herb, ‘This is gonna get sticky, let me go my shield.’
“(I was) still fine, I wanted still to keep fighting. I felt like we were getting somewhere, but it was a great fight.
“Shout out to everybody that supported, everybody that was cheering me on. I love you guys. I'm fine. I'm great. I feel like I'm going to fight next fucking week. You know what I mean? And so thank you so much for the support. I love you guys, and I will be back very soon.”
