The card for ONE Fight Night 23: Buntan vs. Meksen continues to grow, and MMA fans are sure to be pleased with the latest addition.
Japanese superstar Hiroba Minowa and deadly striker Jeremy Miado are set to square off at the Saturday, 6th July, event inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, with both looking to take one step closer to the pinnacle of the strawweight division.
After two narrow defeats, #4-ranked contender Minowa knows this outing is an all-or-nothing affair for him, should he hope to keep some life in his divisional position.
The 25-year-old made waves when he defeated Lito Adiwang and former strawweight MMA king Alex Silva in his first two ONE Championship appearances, and his opponents have come from the upper echelon of the division since.
Unfortunately, the Japanese grappler’s form has hit some bumps along the way. Minowa has fallen to former titleholder Jarred Brooks, #2-ranked Bokang Mansunyane, and #3-ranked Gustavo Balart in his last three fights, so he’ll feel under some pressure to perform when he meets Miado at ONE Fight Night 23.
“The Jaguar” is in the midst of a three-fight skid himself, but there is no denying his ability to perform.
Before a trio of setbacks to top names in Mansur Malachiev, Keito Yamakita, and Adiwang, the 34-year-old was simply steamrolling through the competition.
Miado carved out four stoppage victories in a row against stern opposition, and he’ll be looking to find that form again in the hopes of cracking the strawweight MMA rankings when he meets Minowa.
The ONE Fight Night 23 lineup is growing by the day, with a slew of MMA and Muay Thai scraps set to bolster the collision between Jackie Buntan and Anissa Meksen for the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion in the evening’s main event.
More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks for the thrilling show on 6th July.
