Former two-time ONE lightweight world Champion Eduard Folayang and Singaporean sensation Amir Khan first clashed in November 2018 at ONE: Conquest of Champions with gold up for grabs.
Now, five years later, the pair are set to face off again.
Folayang and Khan will go toe-to-toe when ONE returns to the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the first time this year on Saturday, September 30, at ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs. Ham.
Both stars find themselves in need of an all-important win, with the action expected to be tense and explosive in equal measure as the two seasoned strikers go head to head in a pivotal bout for both men.
Folayang came away victorious when the pair first met. The Filipino veteran bested Khan over the course of five arduous rounds to pick up the unanimous decision and become a two-time lightweight king.
Since then, “Landslide” has seen a string of misfortune in his career.
He has suffered defeat in eight of his last nine MMA contests, with his sole victory coming against Amarsanaa Tsogookhuu in 2019.
Folayang can take some solace in knowing his losses have come against stiff competition like divisional greats Shinya Aoki, Eddie Alvarez, and Zhang Lipeng.
ONE Fight Night 14 will be his first outing this year, and he’ll attempt to change his fortune against Khan, who will be looking to do the same.
The Singaporean star has seen a mixed bag of results fall his way since his first showdown with “Landslide," falling to defeat against the like of Dagi Arslanaliev, Dae Sung Park, and Keanu Subba in the last few years.
Granted, he did topple Ryogo Takahashi, Rahul Raju, and Ev Ting during that time, but Khan is still yet to string wins together.
Times have certainly changed since he met with Folyang last. Instead of being a young rising star, the 28-year-old is now a well-known name. And he’ll be out to impress his hometown crowd against his legendary foe at ONE Fight Night 14.
