OKTAGON’s number 1 ranked Flyweight Aaron Aby will return to the cage the face Christopher Daniel at OKTAGON 52 at the Utilita Arena on January 27th.

Aby last competed against Elias Garcia at OKTGAON 48 as the promotion crowned their inaugural Flyweight champion. Aby was controlling the bout, managing the distance well and landing the better strikes before being caught with a big knee up the middle, which left the Welshman with a nasty cut above his eye.

Immediately after the cut opened, the referee summoned the doctor into the cage to who decided it was not severe enough at that time, to stop proceedings. At the end of round 2, the doctor re-entered the cage for another look at the cut and decided to call an end to the contest.

Aby pleaded with the medical professional to let the bout continue and was visibly distraught once the referee waved the bout off. Post fight, Aby was hopeful for the immediate rematch with Garcia as he felt it was opportunity to continue in the contest was taken out of his hands.

In his comeback bout, Aby won’t be getting his second shot at the OKTAGON gold but will face promotional newcomer Christopher Daniel, instead. The American is on an impressive run, amassing a 5-1 record with 4 of those victories coming in the very first round.

Elsewhere on the card, number 2 ranked Stuart Austin will continue his pursuit of OKTAGON gold with a heavyweight bout against the number one ranked Adam Palasz. Denis ‘The Menace’ Frimpong will look to get back to winning ways against Jan Siroky in a Lightweight contest as Corey Fry puts his number 9 Featherweight ranking on the line against the undefeated Max Holzer.

Per the OKTAGON website, it appears that Ryan Scope is also set to feature on the card following a two-year hiatus from the sport. After winning the BAMMA Lightweight Championship in 2017, the Sunderland based athlete signed with Bellator before dropping results to Patricky Pitbull, Peter Queally and Alam Omar. There is no opponent named ahead of his OKTAGON debut but fans will no doubt be eager to see him back in action.
