Ahead of PFL's monumental Battle Of The Giants card, both main event athletes will be present at a press conference that will take place today in Washington, DC.
The initial announcement of the card delighted MMA fans as it was revealed that Francis Ngannou will make his long awaited return to the cage whilst simultaneously making his PFL promotional debut.
Prior to the final set of 2024 PFL Global Playoffs, which will take place on Friday (August 23) night, the Heavyweight giants will have their first meeting in front of the world’s media.
'The Predator' will set foot back in the cage for the first time since January 2022 when he faces 2023 PFL Global Heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira. After parting ways with the UFC, Ngannou entered the world of boxing and took on two of best Heavyweights on the planet, in the form of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Although unsuccessful in both bouts, Ngannou pushed Fury all the way to a decision and earned many more fans in the process.
After an extremely successful 2023 PFL Global Season, which saw Ferreira pick up three stoppage wins on his way to be crowned champion, the Brazilian then featured on the monumental PFL vs. Bellator CHAMPS card, where he faced Bellator Heavyweight king, Ryan Bader. Bellator were heading for a clean sweep that night, but ‘Problema’ had other ideas and ran through Bader just over 20 seconds into the contest.
Both men are proven power punchers and fans can expect fireworks when the two meet inside the Smart Cage.
The press conference was originally set to see the two women featuring in the co-main event, Cris Cyborg and Larissa Pacheco, but per an updated press release from PFL, it appears the pair will no longer be present. The reason for this has not been disclosed by the promotion.
Also set to appear is YouTuber turned boxer and PFL athlete, Jake Paul.
