Jack Cartwright returned to the win column this past weekend at OKTAGON 61 where he defeated Mate Sanikidze.

It was a tough fight for the former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion who had to dig deep in the third round in order to sway the judges.

In his post-fight interview with Bryan Lacey, Cartwright spoke about how good it feels to be back on the right path following some setbacks in recent times.

"Yeah man, I've had a hard few years to be honest man and it feels good. Respect Sanikidze... Thank you for the fight Mate, I didn't fight my best, knock some dust off after my last performance. I still feel like I can do much better but I'm here, I'm improving all the time."

"I'm just thankful man, beautiful crowd here. It's a wonderful city here and everyone here, great fight fans so I'm happy to come out here and fight for these fans, I'm blessed."

Cartwright's previous fight under the OKTAGON banner saw him lose a unanimous decision to former bantamweight champion Jonas Mågård in Newcastle.

Following their previous encounter in January, Mågård was brought into the cage where he gave his thoughts on his former foe's performance against Sanikidze.

"I think Jack did exactly what I told him to do when I met him at the elevator. Go to the body, tire him out but you need to let go of these submissions bro, they were not there so it was a bit of a boring fight but I promise, if I fight Jack, I will make it very, very exciting. I'm going to finish this guy next time so just make sure to tune in if we're going to fight."

Cartwright responded, making it clear that he's more than happy to run this fight back so that he can try to get some revenge

"Well, he couldn't get a finish in a brothel could he but we'll have a fight any day. Happy days. Jonas, I'd love to punch you some more cuz he did a number on me first time so I'd love to have another go at him, we'll see."
