Rising American star Zoe Nowicki is one of the best examples of a fighter that is taking every opportunity to accumulate as much experience as possible.
Already 2-0 in her pro career, the 24-year old is back in just a few days to compete at the GAMMA World Championships for the second year in a row.
GAMMA allows both amateur and pro fighters to represent their country whilst competing under the amateur ruleset.
Nowicki, an incredibly accomplished wrestler, has already been through this process once when she won gold at the 2023 World Championships in Thailand.
She followed this up by competing at the Pan American Championships in Argentina earlier this year where this time around, she brought back double the amount of gold medals by coming out on top in two weight classes.
"The biggest takeaway from competing in Pan Ams in Argentina was the experience and confidence I got from those fights," Nowicki told Fighters Only. "I was able to secure 3 finishes at Pan Ams, which boosted my confidence in my submissions and TKOs. I also really enjoyed the bond I formed with my teammates and team USA! It was a close knit experience."
However, Nowicki isn't just continuing to rack up amateur acclaim as 2024 is the year where she made her Invicta FC debut, securing two back-to-back decision wins in the sport's leading all-female promotion,
Aside from having to limit her weapons and fighting two less minutes per round, Nowicki has not had an issue competing in both pro and amateur bouts this year after deciding to continue competing in GAMMA tournaments after winning gold last year.
"GAMMA Worlds in Bangkok was such an amazing experience, I was so excited to come back again! The blending of cultures and languages all in one area to compete for winning gold to take back to their country was something incredible. There was so much heart, will power and emotions put on display. The tournament was ran smoothly and the competition was stellar. I love the tournament style setup because it takes me back to my wrestling roots, it's challenging mentally, makes you fight new styles on the fly, and you get years worth of experience in just a short few days. Traveling the world doing what I love is an awesome way to live life as well!"
With Invicta being the perfect place to host the next stage of her journey, it was only a matter of time before Nowicki decided to dedicate all of her time to her pro career.
Nothing is for definite but leaving GAMMA by claiming a second back-to-back world championship in Indonesia would be a strong way to close this chapter.
"I believe this may be my last appearance with GAMMA. But I never say never. I can tell it has just been stressful on my body and mind to balance GAMMA and Invicta back to back like it has been. I love the experience GAMMA gives me. Although Invicta is where my career in MMA lies, and yes I want to dedicate my energy and be very active with them in the upcoming year!!"
The 2024 GAMMA World Championships will take place between December 6-15 in Banten.
