OKTAGON 64 is already underway but unfortunately, there's been a major change to the card.
The promotion's debut event at the new SAP Garden in Munich no longer has a heavyweight main event.
Hatef Moeil, the reigning champion, has withdrawn from his rematch with Lazar Todev which was set to take place 13 months on from his title win last year.
Tensions flared during fight week where at the press conference, it started to kick off between them.
In a heated moment, Moeil attempted to throw his title belt at his opponent but it instead hit OKTAGON co-founder Pavol Neruda who reportedly suffered a cut.
The promotion announced on social media that once the champion's management was informed that he would be fined a percentage of his purse for this incident, he decided to refuse to compete.
"Today at lunch, we informed Hatef Moeil's management that Hatef would be penalized for yesterday's incident. Hatef decided on his own not to participate in the match based on this. We will provide updates on the consequences in the coming days."
Moeil also posted on his Instagram to give his side of the story:
"Liebe Fans, decided not to compete tonight. I'm sorry to disappoint so many of you. However, I feel forced to. Many unpleasant things have happened in the last hours - and for me it is certain that I will not let myself be treated like this."
The event will continue to proceed with the vacant welterweight title fight now serving as the main event of the evening in Munich.
