The latest edition of Dana White’s Contender Series went down at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, where ten fighters put it all on the line in a bid to impress UFC President Dana White and to win a UFC contract.
After a quiet start in the opening week of the series last month, the contestants look to have picked up the pace in recent weeks and the memorable moments kept coming on Tuesday. The card contained three stoppages, one of which came in the featured bout between Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani (9-2) and Jack Congdon (7-2) and will surely go down as one of the most exciting finishes in the history of the show.
Cezary Oleksiejczuk – brother of UFC middleweight Michal – and Mandel Nallo picked up first round stoppage wins, although there was some controversy surrounding Oleksiejczuk’s finish after referee Gary Copeland initially stopped the bout due to perceived illegal strikes. After consulting with cageside officials and reviewing footage, the bout was deemed a TKO in the Pole’s favor.
