The build up to Cage Warriors 191 has been laden with drama. The event was originally set to be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between the promotion's reigning 135-pound champion Liam Gittins and Italian contender Alessandro Giordano.
The bad blood between the pair spilled over at the weigh-ins, resulting in a kerfufle between the fighters and teams. Shortly after the weigh-in ceremony, Cage Warriors released s statement saying they had elected to ban Giordano's coach for life from the organization for his part in the incident.
On the day of the event, Cage Warriors released another statement revealing that Giordano has opted to withdraw from the main event.
The interim lightweight title fight between Omar Tugarev and James Power has been moved to the top of the bill as a result.
