UFC on ESPN 70 took place in Nashville, Tennessee, last Saturday night, and fans at the Bridgestone Arena were treated to a slate of thrilling performances and explosive finishes.
Derrick Lewis, Fatima Kline, Valter Walker, Mike Davis, Jake Matthews, Tuco Tokkos, Vitor Petrino, and Morgan Charrière all delivered highlight-reel moments — giving Dana White plenty to consider when selecting post-fight bonus winners.
Now that the dust has begun to settle, here’s a look at who made the biggest moves in the latest updated rankings following UFC Nashville:
Derrick Lewis
The UFC’s all-time knockout leader earned his third win in four outings with a devastating finish over the previously unbeaten Tallison Teixeira in Saturday’s main event. Despite the impressive showing, Lewis (29-12 MMA, 20-10 UFC) holds steady at No. 9 in the heavyweight rankings.
Teixeira (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), making only his second UFC appearance, drops one spot to No. 14, switching places with Martin Buday.
Gabriel Bonfim
Following a somewhat controversial split-decision win over veteran Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson (17-9-1 MMA, 12-9-1 UFC) in the co-main event, Gabriel Bonfim (18-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) breaks into the welterweight rankings at No. 14.
Though “Marretinha” may have benefited from a favorable call, the result stands — and he now joins the growing list of rising contenders at 170 pounds.
“Wonderboy,” previously ranked No. 12, drops out of the rankings entirely. As a result, Carlos Prates and Kevin Holland each move up one spot to No. 12 and No. 13, respectively.
Steve Garcia
With a sixth straight win, Steve Garcia (18-5 MMA, 7-2 UFC) cracks the featherweight rankings, entering at No. 11. He replaces Calvin Kattar (23-10 MMA, 7-8 UFC), who he defeated Saturday night.
Kattar, now on a five-fight losing streak, drops to No. 14. Max Holloway has also been removed from the featherweight rankings, following confirmation of his permanent move to the lightweight division.
Eduarda Moura
After earning a decision win over the retiring Lauren Murphy on the prelims, Eduarda Moura (12-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) makes her debut in the women’s flyweight rankings at No. 15.
She replaces Viviane Araújo, who recently parted ways with the UFC.
