Former Glory kickboxer Giga Chikadze announced he has signed with the UFC.

The Georgian is set to make his Octagon debut at UFC Copenhagen on 28 September, taking on American Brandon Davis.

Initially reported by Bloody Elbow, Chikadze said his fight with Davis wasn’t the original plan.

“I just signed a contract a few days ago,” Chikadze told the publication. “My opponent was supposed to be Mike Davis, but it looks like he was unhealthy and he was having some kind of problems in health. They just switched opponent with the same last name, just different name. Brandon Davis will be my opponent.”

Chikadze has largely spent his MMA career at California-based promotion Gladiator Challenge, though his two defeats have come in different promotions – first in World Series of Fighting, second at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.

All seven of his MMA victories have come by stoppage.

Davis himself came through the Contender Series, defeating Austin Arnett in the show’s first iteration. He has since went 2-4 in the Octagon.

UFC Copenhagen is set to be headlined by a top middleweight bout pitting Jack Hermansson against the surging Jared Cannonier.
