Marlon Moraes avenges defeat to Raphael Assuncao in rematch

Rising UFC bantamweight Marlon Moraes has always sworn to avenge his debated split decision loss to compatriot Raphael Assuncao almost two years ago.
On Saturday night in Fortaleza, Brazil, Moraes followed on his word in some style.
After flooring Assuncao with two sweet overhand rights, Moraes followed his foe to the canvas and locked in a tight guillotine of his back.
He rolled into mount, applying further pressure, forcing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt Assuncao to frantically tap.
This was a big win for Moraes, who has made an even bigger claim for the next crack at TJ Dillashaw’s UFC bantamweight championship.
Jose Aldo looks better than ever as he finishes Renato Moicano

Jose Aldo looked back to his best as he made light work of up-and-coming featherweight Renato Moicano.
The former two-time UFC featherweight champion looked poised as he measured his rangy opponent, but displayed his aggressive viciousness of old to finish the job.
Less than a minute into the second round, Aldo landed a left hook which sent Moicano into retreat.
From there, Aldo landed further punches to the head, exhausting body punches and a knee to the face for good measure.
Sensing Moicano was only going to endure further unnecessary punishment – despite remaining standing throughout the onslaught – referee Jerin Valel was forced to call a stop to the fight.
Aldo has hinted that 2019 could be his last year of competing in mixed martial arts. But judging by that performance, Aldo has plenty left in the tank.
Demian Maia submits Lyman Good in first round
https://twitter.com/ufc/status/1091886911558320128
Demian Maia’s position as one of the finest BJJ players to ever compete in the Octagon leaves little doubt, but that doesn’t mean it has got old watching him work his magic in the cage.
Lyman Good was the latest welterweight to fall foul of Maia’s world-class submission skills.
Maia sought to quickly take the fight down to the mat and he succeeded, though Good did well to get back to his feet.
But Good returning to a standing position allowed Maia to hop on the former Bellator fighter’s back and attempt a rear-naked choke.
Good did well to fight Maia’s hands as they jockeyed for defensive and offensive submission positioning, but Maia’s patience paid off as Good tapped out knowing there was no escape from Maia’s anaconda-like squeeze.
At 41, it’s unclear what makes sense for Maia next. Either way, it remains a privilege to watch the man do his thing in the Octagon.
Charles Oliveira adds to his UFC submission record with win over David Teymur
Charles Oliveira is seldom featured in boring fights and Saturday night was no different.
“Do Bronx” was rocked by Swedish kickboxer David Teymur in the first round in addition to suffering from a couple of nasty eye pokes, which led to Teymur having a point deducted.
The second was equally as wild as the first stanza, but it was Oliveira who was the instigator.
The Brazilian threw a short elbow which caught Teymur flush on the chin and he unloaded punches on his opponent.
With his opponent hurt, Do Bronx snatched an anaconda choke and took Teymur down to squeeze out the submission.
Forcing the tap, Oliveira now has 13 submissions in the Octagon – a UFC record he’s now extended.
Brazil’s Johnny Walker feeds his hype with spinning backfist knockout
Brazil’s Johnny Walker is being talked about as a potential future force of the UFC’s light heavyweight division. It’s clear to see why after UFC Fortaleza.
His fight against Justin Ledet got off to a frantic start as he landed sidekick to the body and wound up a devastating spinning backfist which caught Ledet coming in.
As Ledet crumpled to the floor, Walker threw some big bombs to force referee Eduardo Hardy to call the stoppage just 15 seconds in.
That’s now 13 knockouts to Walker’s name and he is likely to face a ranked opponent next up. Aged 26, Walker is very much one to watch for the future.
